I spent last week out in Ft. Collins, Colorado shingling Studio Build's first "Out of State" project. Some close friends of mine purchased a great lot with mountain views to the West and direct access to a private lake to the East.
The program requirements that our clients gave us were very interesting and really helped us to design their home unique to their lifestyle and to the site. They wanted to be able to enjoy both the mountain and lake aspects from interior and the exterior of their house.
To visually connect our clients, we designed large window openings that we filled with black framed Marvin Integrity windows. They allow great views to the mountains and lake from inside the house. To physically connect our clients to the site aspects, we designed large spacious decks on the East and West sides of the house. The decks provide ample room for entertaining and BBQ's. In addition, we connected the front and back with a breezeway.
One of the more unique aspects of the house is the lower level garage, it is less of a garage and more of a "Man Cave!" Our clients wanted to have boat storage with direct access to the lake without having to contend with taking the wakeboard rack down every time they entered or exited the garage. We designed a lower level garage/shop area to accommodate the height of a fully rigged wakeboard boat.
The framing stage is complete and things are coming together nicely. Exterior finishes are gearing up. HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical work will be starting in the interior very soon!
Special thanks to Joe Baker, Mike Ormiston, and Duncan Krause for their help shingling the roof!
